KABUL, Afghanistan, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel says the U.S. will keep 1,000 more troops than had been planned in Afghanistan during the first part of coming year.
At a press conference Saturday in Kabul with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Hagel said up to 10,800 troops would stay in the country for the early part of 2015. Until now, the updated schedule called for the U.S. presence to number 9,800 troops.
