LONDON, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- An explosion caused by a gas leak at the five-star Hyatt Regency London hotel injured 14 people.

The explosion happened at 11:40 p.m. Friday and caused part of the building to collapse. Five were taken to the hospital, including two with leg wounds. The rest were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

"It was a huge bang. I thought straight away it might be a terrorist attack," said Stewart Dyer, who was there with his wife and daughter.

No guests were injured, but staff and passersby were caught in the blast.

The explosion originated from one of the hotel's kitchens, and it's believed to have been sparked by a gas leak, according to the London Fire Brigade which is investigating.

The hotel is to be closed for the foreseeable future.
