NUREMBURG, Germany, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A watercolor named "Standesamt und Altes Rathaus München" (Civil Registry Office and Old Town Hall of Munich), thought to be painted by Hitler, has sold for $161,000 (130,000 euros) at the Weidler Auction House in Nuremberg, Germany.
The painting was done in 1914, and it was sold by two elderly sisters whose grandfather bought it in 1916, according to the BBC.
Though they are not positive it is a genuine Hitler painting, his signature "A. Hitler" can be seen written on the back of the painting. The painting was also accompanied with the original bill of sale and a certificate of authenticity signed by Albert Bormann, brother of Martin Bormann, Hitler's chief of staff, which elevated the price.
The purchaser of the piece, only known to be a man from the Middle East, has chosen to remain anonymous.
