FREEPORT, Bahamas, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Nine people died Sunday night when a small private jet from Nassau crashed on its approach to Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport, Bahamas.
Though officials had yet to confirm the identifies of the victims, NBC reported that Myles Munroe, a prominent evangelical pastor and speaker, and his wife, Ruth, were among the dead.
Royal Bahamas Police Force Inspector Terecita Pinder told CNN that no one on board the plane survived the crash.
Authorities have not commented on the cause of the crash, but the Bahamas Tribune reported that the jet hit a crane in a nearby ship yard on its descent.
Munroe and his wife were headed for the Global Leadership Forum in Freeport, an event organized by Munroe's Bahamas Faith Ministries.
Organizers said Sunday night that the Forum would continue.
"This is what Dr. Munroe would have wanted," they wrote in a post to Munroe's Facebook page. "Please keep his family and the ministry in prayers."
Munroe, 60, was a well-known pastor and motivational speaker. He received multiple degrees from Oral Roberts University and a Master's degree from the University of Tulsa. He also authored dozens of books about Christianity, relationships and success, including The Spirit of Leadership and Releasing Your Potential.
