The cause of his death wasn't released, and the Department of Defense said it was under investigation.

Neal was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment at Twentynine Palms, Calif.

This is the second non-combat related U.S. Marine death since the start of airstrikes against IS — which is also known by the acronyms ISIS and ISIL. Earlier this month, Cpl. Jordan L. Spears, 21, was considered lost at sea when he fell off a MV-22B Osprey into the North Arabian Gulf.
