BANGKOK, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Thailand is considering having tourists wear identification bracelets to help protect them after the murders of two British tourists.
Thailand's tourism minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul announced Tuesday she she had approached several hotels in Thailand to discuss distribution of the wristbands.
"When tourists check in to a hotel they will be given a wristband with a serial number that matches their ID and shows the contact details of the resort they are staying in, so that if they're out partying late and, for example, get drunk or lost, they can be easily assisted," said Kobkarn.
Kobkarn also mentioned they were planning on looking into a "buddy system" and plan to put electronic tracking devices in the bracelets -- an idea that makes many uncomfortable.
The Thai government may also impose a "partying curfew."
It is one of the responses on the table after a British couple Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24, were murdered and their naked bodies dumped on a beach on the southern island of Koh Tao.
