PARIS, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A strike by Air France pilots entered its fifth day on Friday, and is expected to continue until September 26.

The airline advised passengers Friday: "If you are traveling on a flight operated by Air France, we propose you to modify your departure to avoid the period from September 15th to 26nd 2014," and provided guidance on their website for doing so.

Air France noted that flights operated by other airlines, such as HOP, KLM and Delta, were not affected by the ongoing pilots' strike.

The strike, which began Monday, is over plans by Air France-KLM, the Air France parent group, to expand its Transavia airline specializing in low-cost flights. To pilots, the move means renegotiated contracts with lower pay and longer hours. The major pilots' union has called for a weeklong strike.
