Rebel rocket attack kills 10 in Ukraine

DONETSK, Ukraine, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Despite a ceasefire, 10 civilians were killed when pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine fired rockets into the village of Nyzhnya Krynka, near Donestsk.

The Ukrainian military reported that the attack Wednesday, using Russian-made Grad rockets, injured 12 others and destroyed nine civilian buildings.

In western Ukraine, a military exercise called Rapid Trident began at the Yavoriv military base, involving 1,300 soldiers from 15 countries. The U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade sent 200 personnel to train 700 Ukrainian troops and others in combat drills.
