The U.K. Embassy in the United States apologized Sunday after sending a tweet referencing the burning of the White House by British troops during the War of 1812.

The embassy tweeted a picture commemorating the burning of the White House with and joked about burning it down again. The photo showed a cake with the White House between the British and American flags.

It wasn't long after sending the tweet that people said the post was "tactless" and showed "poor taste." The embassy followed the tweet with another apologizing for the diplomacy misfire. It said the commemoration was only to celebrate the strong relationship between the two countries today.
