NOTTINGHAM, England, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Severe weather in the United Kingdom produced a moment of photographic kismet when a plane took off from East Midlands Airport ahead of a dark funnel cloud.

Photographer Russ Greenwell snapped an image of a Ryanair flight from the Nottingham, England airport bound for Spain Thursday.

The tornado -- which was a bit farther away from the plane than the angle makes it appear -- comes amid two weeks of severe weather left over from Hurricane Bertha and a swath of unusually cool air. London has been affected by flooding and the U.K. has already met its entire normal rainfall level for August in the first half of the month.

Fortunately, the flight arrived in Spain without incident.
