MOSCOW, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama received a backhanded birthday greeting in the form of a banner and laser show on the face of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.

Part of the laser show featured an image of Obama wearing a birthday hat and eating a banana along with the words "Happy birthday, Obama" in large letters. The Moscow Student Initiative took responsibility for the display on the Russian social networking site VKontakte.

Across the street, RT filmed activists unfurling another offensive message -- a banner with a picture of the president in a birthday hat covering his eyes, ears and mouth. "Don't see. Don't hear. Don't speak the truth to anyone," the banner read.

The commander in chief turned 53 on Monday.
