DONETSK, Ukraine, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Cadaver dogs were brought in to assist the search for the remains of victims of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, investigators said.

The dogs are helping 70 experts in eastern Ukraine search the debris field of the crash site, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe said. The organization is monitoring the search.

International investigators arrived at the site Thursday after a week of rebel fighting prevented access.

Malaysia Flight 17 crashed in the eastern part of Ukraine near Donetsk on July 17 after it was allegedly shot by a surface-to-air missile. All 298 people on board the plane died.
