KABUL, Afghanistan, July 17 (UPI) -- A brazen Taliban attack against Kabul International Airport ended Thursday morning.

Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi quoted one police commando at the scene, who declared "we have the guts, we have the will and power to kill these terrorists, they seem to us mice."

Police Special Forces repelled the attack. Sediqqi reported four militants killed while the interior ministry put the number at six. There were no injuries to Afghan security forces or to civilians.

Police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai said that militants overtook a building under construction near the airport and used explosives, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, and machine guns to launch the assault.

The airport was briefly closed during the incident.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said the militant group was responsible and that they had targeted the military side of the airport.
