Hyvert, whose body was found Thursday on the Talèfre glacier, was scaling the 13,500-foot Aiguille Verte peak when he likely hit inclement weather and fell to his death.
He still had his identification, equipment and skis with him.
Hyvert's father, Gerard, is now 82. He told The Guardian that the recovery of his son's body was like a "second death."
"Mountains were his passion. I thought I would be dead before they found him," Gerard said.
