KAMPALA, Uganda, July 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. embassy in Uganda issued a terror warning on Thursday that there may be an attack on the Entebbe International Airport later in the day.

The embassy sourced the threat information to information provided by the Uganda Police Force.

"... according to intelligence sources there is a specific threat to attack Entebbe International Airport by an unknown terrorist group today, July 3rd, between the hours of 2100-2300."

The embassy advised: "Individuals planning travel through the airport this evening may want to review their plans in light of this information."

Thursday's warning comes a day after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that "enhanced security measures" will be implemented in the coming days at airports in Europe and the Middle East with direct flights to the U.S.

A homeland security official told CNN that new intelligence suggests terror groups are working to create improvised explosive devices that are more difficult to detect. Passengers at affected airports may experience more thorough screening procedures.
