Taliban suicide bus bombing targets Afghan military, leaving 16 dead

A Taliban attack targeting the Afghan military killed at least 16 people aboard a bus in Kabul on Wednesday.

KABUL, Afghanistan, July 2 (UPI) -- The Taliban launched a suicide bombing attack on a bus carrying military personnel in Kabul Wednesday, killing at least 16 people and wounding 26.

According to the defense ministry and public health officials, the dead included eight Afghan air force officers, three defense ministry workers, and five civilians.

13 of the wounded were military officers.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the militant group was responsible for the attack.
