North Korea holds massive rally for war anniverserary

The Korean War began on June 25, 1950 when communist North Korean troops launched an attack on South Korea across the 38th parallel.

PYONGYANG, North Korea, June 26 (UPI) -- North Koreans gathered in Pyongyang Wednesday to hold a massive rally commemorating the 64th anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War.

KRT, North Korea's state-run television station, showed thousands of Koreans with banners and posters featuring the faces of leader Kim Jong-un and his father, Kim Jong-il, standing in Kim Il-sung square.

They chanted, "Down with the U.S. aggressor" and "Let us bring down our sworn enemy -- U.S. imperialists."

The Korean war led to the creation of the demilitarized zone, which is now the most fortified front in the world.
