GUIXI, China, June 24 (UPI) -- Low-level Chinese official Wang Junhua was relieved of his post after a picture of him receiving a piggyback ride from one of his clerks, Ding Xianbao, surfaced online.

Wang, who was identified by the Xinhua news agency Monday, was wearing leather shoes as his staffer waded through the ankle-deep water. Someone traveling through the floods took the picture and it went viral on the website Weibo, also known as the Chinese version of Twitter.

The photo sparked outrage as Wang was in the flood zone to look for missing children after they disappearing during the severe rains that flooded the Jiangxi and Hunan provinces.

This is the second time in nine months an official has been sacked for this reason. In 2013, an official was photographed accepting a ride from a villager to spare his shoes and was subsequently relieved of his position.
