Bombing of Nigerian medical school kills 8

An investigation is underway following a bombing at a medical school in northern Nigeria that left eight people dead and 12 others injured.

ABUJA, Nigeria, June 23 (UPI) -- Eight people were killed and 12 others injured when a bomb exploded at a medical school in Kano, Nigeria, on Monday afternoon.

The explosives were detonated around 2 p.m. local time in the School of Hygiene's parking lot, Kano Police Commissioner Adelere Shinaba reported.

Police have arrested one suspect, but have not yet released a motive for the attack. An investigation, including whether Boko Haram was involved, is underway.
