SAO PAULO, June 17 (UPI) -- World leaders including President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani showed their support for their World Cup teams over social media.

Merkel was all smiles after Germany beat Portugal 4-0. The German embassy tweeted photos of the chancellor celebrating the victory with her team.

Obama posted this vine before the game to show his support for team USA.

Rouhani showed that he is just like everyone else when he posted a picture of himself watching Iran's match against Nigeria on his sofa.
