NEW DELHI, June 6 (UPI) -- A sword fight broke out on Friday morning at Amristar's Golden Temple in India, leaving 12 people injured.

According to eyewitness accounts, volunteers from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and radical Sikh activists clashed after SGPC volunteers were prohibited from showcasing traditional weaponry at the 30th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, a deadly Army-led attack on the Sikh's Golden Temple.

Men from both sides chased each other around the complex, armed with swords and sticks.

An "uneasy calm" was reported at the temple later in the day.
