Boko Haram kills 33 police officers, soldiers in northeastern Nigeria attacks

Nigerian security officials said Wednesday that Islamist militant group Boko Haram killed 33 security personnel, including both military and police, during attacks in northeastern Nigeria this week.

ABUJA, Nigeria, May 28 (UPI) -- Boko Haram killed 33 security personnel this week, security officials said Wednesday.

Yobe State Police Commissioner Sanusi Rufa'i reported "There were attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in Buni Yadi, but details are still sketchy."

Boko Haram reportedly launched the attacks against a military base and a police station in northeastern Nigeria.

The attack follows the group's admitted abduction of more than 200 girls from their boarding school in Chibok, also in northeastern Nigeria, in mid-April.
