YALTA, Ukraine, May 5 (UPI) -- A white Bengal tiger gave birth to four cubs last week in a zoo in the Crimean town of Yalta.

The birth of four cubs is unusual with tigers typically only giving birth to two. Even more rare, one of the cubs is albino and does not have black stripes like its siblings.

The mother tigress is named Tigryulya and was a gift to the zoo from former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko after several of the animals were poisoned in 2009.

There are currently only a few hundred white Bengal tigers in the world with most of them located in India.
