"Give us back Sheldon!"

BEIJING, April 28 (UPI) -- Chinese fans of American television are upset after China blocks several U.S. TV shows including the comedy, The Big Bang Theory.

After a new law passed in China allowing the broadcast regulatory agency to have tighter control over internet broadcasting, the government banned The Big Bang Theory, The Good Wife, NCIS, and The Practice.

Soon after the ban was put in place, Chinese social media websites were filled with, "Give me back Sheldon," referring to The Big Bang Theory's socially awkward physicist Sheldon Cooper.

The Chinese government gave no details or reasoning for the ban.
