BALI, Indonesia, April 25 (UPI) -- A drunken passenger on a Virgin Australia flight caused a scare earlier today -- but nothing more.

Flight 737-800 from Brisbane landed at Denpasar airport in Bali after a drunken passenger reportedly tried to break into the cockpit of the plane. The passenger’s actions initially sparked concern that the plane had been hijacked.

Virgin Australia Airlines officials called the situation a "flight emergency" and noted that the passenger “was acting aggressively.”

“There was a disruptive passenger on board and the pilot notified authorities in advance of landing, as per standard operating procedures,” the airline said in a statement. “The passenger was unarmed and is now in the custody of the Indonesian authorities. Any further enquiries regarding the passenger should be directed to the Indonesian authorities.”

All 140 people on the plane were unharmed. "At no point was the safety of the aircraft in question,” the airline said.
