Malaysian PM: Factual report on MH370 will be released to passengers' families

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 24 (UPI) -- The Malaysian government has now decided it will release the factual report regarding missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 to families of the passengers.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak made the announcement during an exclusive interview with CNN on Thursday.

The decision to release the report comes after passengers' families expressed frustration and outrage that the Malaysian government had initially decided not to share the UN-mandated report with them.

During Thursday's interview, the prime minister at first said "there is a likelihood that next week we could release the report," and then stated later in the interview that the report would be released next week.

The report is required by the International Civil Aviation Organization, a UN agency that was established "to develop international Standards and Recommended Practices."

The Malaysia government has already submitted the report to the ICAO, which the UN agency said included a safety recommendations for the aviation field to implement real-time tracking of commercial aircraft.
