DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, April 23 (UPI) -- Two French daredevils set the world record for the highest base jump after leaping from the pinnacle of the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa.

Professional base jumpers Vince Reffet and Fred Fugen broke the record Monday by completing two jumps off the 2,716-foot (828-meter) building in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It broke the previous record held by two Emirati jumpers who jumped 2,204 feet (672 meters) down the building.

"We feel happy for breaking the world record, but it wasn’t the main goal. We’ve been dreaming about base jumping from this special place, this unique place for three years now," Fugen told Gulf News.

Although many would consider this to be an insane stunt, the jumpers say they came well prepared to avoid accident or injury.

"We didn’t leave any room for error. We planned everything. For sure we were scared at first but we transformed that fear into power to achieve our goal," said Reffet.
