MOGADISHU, Somalia, April 22 (UPI) -- Somali member of parliament Abdiaziz Isaak Mursal was shot to death Tuesday, marking the second deadly attack on Somali lawmakers in two days.

Witnesses said that unidentified gunmen opened fire on Mursal as he left for work on Tuesday.

On Monday, a Somali parliamentarian was killed and another lawmaker injured in a car bomb attack on their vehicle as they drove to a security conference. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for what the Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed called a "cowardly attack" that claimed the life of "a committed parliamentarian."

The prime minister insisted Tuesday that "the use of terror will not derail us from the progress made in securing Somalia."
