LONDON, April 17 (UPI) -- London Underground workers are planning to strike for five days to demonstrate against the closure of 260 ticket offices and the elimination of 960 jobs.

RMT Acting General Secretary Mick Cash voiced his outrage about the treatment of Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect workers.

"The planned axing of jobs, and the associated freezing and hacking back of pay and working conditions, is a kick in the teeth for the staff who have made Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect the success story that they are today. The staff have now spoken and it is down to company to halt the cuts plans and start talking seriously about the future of this vital London transport link.”

The strike is set to occur over two time periods. The first walk out is scheduled to begin on April 28 and last for two days. The second walk out is scheduled for May 5 and will last for three days.
