ALEPPO, Syria, April 16 (UPI) -- A video taken by one of the opposition groups in Syria shows rebels using U.S. manufactured rockets in their fight against the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
The video shows a man using a BGM-71 TOW, an anti-tank rocket manufactured by the U.S. The video has the emblem of the opposition group Harakat Hazm, a moderate rebel group fighting in the Syrian Civil War.
Whether the weapons were directly supplied by the U.S. or they obtained them through other means is unclear. Harakat Hazm says the U.S. supplied 10 of the rocket launchers and they were used to win a key regional battle.
The U.S. has discussed sending military aid to the moderate rebel groups amid fears they would land in the hands of jihadists who have worked their way into certain rebel factions since the fighting began. U.S. officials have not made mention of military aid being sent to the region.
