A round of mortar shelling killed six children and injured five others in Damascus Thursday.
The shelling hit several areas of the capital with four landing in the Dukhanieh neighborhood in southeast Damascus, where the children were killed. Three people were wounded by shrapnel when one shell hit the Dahiet Harasta roundabout in Damascus' countryside. Seven more people were injured when shells landed in al Jahiz park in central Damascus.

On August 21 of last year, the Syrian regime launched a sarin gas attack that killed more than 1,000 Syrian civilians including children.
The Syrian civil war is now in its third year with the number of casualties too great for the UN to even keep track.
