Acting Malaysian Transportation Minister Hishammuddin Hussein shared the latest in the complicated investigation of the plane's mysterious disappearance. Investigators recently turned their attention to the pilots of the aircraft, and searched their homes. The flight simulator located in Captain Shah's home revealed that data had been deleted.
The transportation minister did not say what the deleted flight simulator data contained or who may have deleted the data. Investigators, he said, are hoping to recover the deleted data.
Jay Leboff, a flight simulator expert and owner of HotSeat, a simulator manufacturer, spoke to CNN about the new information concerning Captain's Shah's deleted flight simulator data. Simulator data is contained in very small files and typically retained by pilots in order to measure their progress. "It would be suspicious to me, because there's no need to do it," he said.
