VATICAN CITY, March 7 (UPI) -- Pope Francis confessed Thursday that he stole the rosary cross of his confessor and still wears it today.

He revealed his sin during a discussion on the need to be merciful. He was speaking of a great priest in Argentina and when he died, the Pope went to pray beside his casket and saw him with the cross in his clasped hands.

"And immediately there came the thief we all have inside ourselves," said Pope Francis, "I took the cross and with just a bit of force, I removed it."

The confession received good reviews on Twitter as people sang their praise for the "cool pope." Apparently, his sin has been forgiven.
