PRETORIA, South Africa, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Days before his murder trial is to being, pictures surfaced showing South African sprinter Oscar Pistorius firing the weapon he used to shoot at his girlfriend.
Pistorius, a Paralympic runner, is scheduled to go on trial Monday, accused of deliberately killing model Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius claimed he thought he was shooting an intruder when he fired through a closed bathroom door in his Pretoria home.
Sky News reported Friday several photographs showed the double amputee runner firing the same 9mm pistol he used when he shot Steenkamp Feb. 14, 2013.
Pistorius, a gun enthusiast, has visited gun ranges regularly.
Sky News said Pistorius' knowledge of guns and weapons will be examined during his trial, the first in South African history to be broadcast live. A judge ruled this week that portions of the trial could be broadcast.
