Ukraine establishes interim government, appoints PM and approves cabinet

According to Parliamentary Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov, most of the new cabinet ministers have no political party affiliation.

KIEV, Ukraine, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, its parliament, voted to install Arseniy Yatseniuk as its new prime minister on Thursday, and approved his proposed appointment of new cabinet members.

Yatseniuk received 371 out of 471 parliamentary votes to appoint him prime minister. Following the vote, interim President and Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov signed the decree and invited Yatseniuk to take the prime minister's seat in parliament.

Parliament then voted to approve Yatseniuk's new cabinet, including First Deputy Prime Minister Vitaliy Yareme, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Sych, Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development and Housing Minister Volodymyr Hroisman, Cabinet Minister Yevhen Semerak, Health Minister Oleh Musiy, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Infrastructure Minister Maksym Burbak, Finance Minister Oleksandr Shlapak, Social Policy Minister Liudmila Denisova, Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko, Culture Minister Yevhen Nyschuk, Economy Minister Pavlo Sheremet, Education and Science Minister Serhiy Kvit, Youth and Sports Minister Dmytro Bulatov, Agriculture Minister Ihor Shvaik, Environment Minister Andriy Mokhnyk, and Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan.

The parliament speaker noted that many of the new cabinet members are not affiliated with a particular political party.
