KABUL, Afghanistan, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- At least nine people died and more than 35 were injured in a suicide bombing at a hotel in southern Afghanistan's Uruzgan province, officials said.

All the victims in the Tuesday evening attack in Tarin Kowt were believed to be Afghans, the BBC reported.

A provincial police official told the BBC many of the injured were seriously hurt, raising concerns the death toll could rise.

He said the attacker entered the facility's premises and the explosives went off shortly thereafter.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
