MUNICH, Germany, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- A woman allegedly strangled her mother with a washing line in an apartment in Munich, Germany, and then lived next to her body for two weeks, police said.

Police found the body of the mother, identified as Karin, after entering the apartment Saturday. Authorities arrested the 40-year-old daughter, identified as Christine K., TheLocal.de reported.

A good friend of the victim had contacted police after she couldn't get in touch with her.

The mother and daughter had recently been arguing over money, the friend told the Munich Abendzeitung, and neighbors had heard them shouting.

Christie K. admitted to the crime, police said, and said she wanted to kill herself afterward but was unable to do it.

She has been charged with murder.
