BEIJING, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- A Chinese fishing boat and its crew were released by Japanese authorities Saturday after being detained over alleged inaccuracies in its log, officials said.

The Chinese consulate general said the boat had been detained Friday night in Nagasaki Prefecture for an "untrue working log," China's state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The captain remained in custody, but the rest of the boat's crew members were released.
