Feb. 17, 2014 at 3:52 PM   |   Comments

CAIRO, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- The Egyptian military said Monday a raid on suspected terrorists on the Sinai peninsula resulted in five deaths and three arrests.

Army spokesman Col. Ahmed Ali said on Facebook soldiers targeted militants in the northern peninsula, destroying 34 primitive structures at an encampment and several vehicles they had been using, Ahram Online said.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region, including a terrorist bombing of a tour bus in the region that killed at least four people.
