Snowmobiler dies in British Columbia avalanche

SQUAMISH, British Columbia, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Authorities have confirmed a snowmobile rider was killed in an avalanche in British Columbia this weekend.

The name of the 44-year-old man who died in the 3:30 PST Saturday snow slide near Grizzly Lake on Powder Mountain had not been released but the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said he was from Squamish, eCanadaNow.com reported.

RCMP Sgt. Steve LeClair said the victim's companions dug him out of the snow about 20 after he was buried by the avalanche but were unable to resuscitate him, the news website said.
