The names of the two men involved in the unusual attempted murder-suicide Friday night had not been released, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Sunday. The RCMP said the men were related but didn't say how.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Mission said the crossbow shooter was a 59-year-old man from Nanaimo, British Columbia, and the man wounded in the shoulder was a 24-year-old employee of the Mission Station Grill.
The wounded man underwent surgery and was expected to recover.
"One of the things that stands out for police in this incident is the choice of weapon -- a crossbow," RCMP Constable Amanda Harnett said. "They're not often used by criminals but they can be deadly."
