BEIJING, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A 5.4-magnitude earthquake in northwest China Tuesday caused no casualties and produced only slight damage, officials say.
The Chinese Earthquake Networks Center said the temblor hit Yutian County in Xinjiang province's Uyghur Autonomous Region, China's official Xinhua news agency reported.
Its epicenter was at a depth of 6.8 miles.
The quake was felt over 2,000 square miles and affected about 700 people, said the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
Only a few houses may have been damaged or destroyed, the earthquake center said.
