PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- An end to U.S. drone strikes and the release of prisoners are among 15 demands the Taliban says it is making at peace talks with the Pakistani government.

Compensation for property damaged by the strikes and jobs for the affected families are among the negotiating points.

Other demands include the introduction of Sharia law into the judicial system, the use of the Islamic system of education in both public and private schools, and a replacement of democratic government with the Islamic system.

The council also called for control of tribal areas to be handed over to local forces, the closing of checkpoints, and the end of relations with the United States, including support for the war on terror.

The demands also included the release of prisoners on both sides, including members of the Pakistani and foreign Taliban.

Peace talks are ongoing in Waziristan. Negotiators for the Pakistan government have not yet commented on the Taliban demands.
