Four women dead, three hurt in suicide attack on Peshawar home

PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Four women were killed and three others wounded Monday in a suicide blast at a home in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, officials say.

S.S.P. Najeeb, who directs the city's police operations, said officers were conducting a raid for a reported suspicious person when the bomb was detonated, Dawn News reported.

A senior official of the bomb disposal squad said the device contained about 13 pounds of explosive material and pellets.

Women at the home were saying funeral prayers when the bomb went off, neighbors said.

In separate incidents in the Hangu district, three teachers were gunned down by motorcyclists as they returned home from school and two brothers were killed in a clash with rivals.

An attack on a polio vaccination team in the Khyber tribal region left three people injured, Dawn News reported.
