French investigate mom's corpse found in chair

Feb. 9, 2014 at 12:13 PM   |   Comments

MAEL-CARHAIX, France, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- A French woman was taken in for psychiatric evaluation this weekend after the decomposed body of her mother was discovered in her home, police said.

The woman apparently went about her business after her mother died between 1-3 years ago without informing anyone and leaving the corpse propped up in a chair.

Police said they were investigating the mother's death to determine if it was from natural causes of if an accident or foul play was involved.

The grisly discovery was made after city officials in Mael-Carhaix noted the yard becoming overgrown with weeds, Le Telegramme said Sunday in a translated report. The landlord of the house apparently never visited the woman because the rent was always paid on time.
