LA ISLA, Guatemala, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- About 20 gunmen killed eight members of a family -- including a 3-month-old baby -- and injured two others in a Guatemalan home, officials said.

The unidentified gunmen entered the La Isla house Saturday, reportedly looking for the son of one of the residents who was killed, 55-year-old Samuel Xol Xo, Interior Minister Mauricio Lopez Bonilla told Prensa Libre.

The other victims included 3-month-old Moon Star Sun, Jakelin Yulisa Xol Cucul, 5, Cesar Arnoldo Xol Cucul, 19, Wilfer Abimael Che Cacao, 19, Irma Caal Yat, 24, Francisco Xol Cucul, 25, and Oscar Xol Cucul, 27.

Two others shot and injured outside the house were identified as Filomena Caal Choc, 24, and Candelaria Cucul Tiul, 46.

"It is unfortunate that these acts are committed, and especially against a child under three months," Bonilla said.

The minister said there are often disputes in the area, which is about 75 miles outside San Luis, over land and drugs.
