Wongene Daniel Kim, a health sciences student at the University of Toronto, complained to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, charging the professor who taught Women and Gender Studies discriminated against him because he is male, the Toronto Star reported Wednesday.
The tribunal rejected his complaint. Mary Truemner, the adjudicator, said that refusing to accommodate personal preferences is not discrimination and that Kim did not even try attending class, by his own admission walking out when he went to the first one and saw only women.
Kim's suggestion that the women would not have been willing to deal with him because he is male is "merely speculation as he never gave the class, or the women, a chance," Truemner said.
