Bus collision with train kills 12 in Ukraine

SUMY, Ukraine, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Twelve people died and six were injured when a shuttle bus and a train collided in Ukraine's Sumy region, officials said.

An investigation was launched into the cause of the accident, but preliminary reports suggest the actions of the shuttle bus driver led to the incident, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

"All the victims have received the necessary medical assistance. I express my condolences to the bereaved families. Investigators should look into the causes of the tragedy. At a government meeting I will raise the question of granting financial assistance to the bereaved families," Acting Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul said.
