Anti-government protesters marched near Tawfik mosque in northeastern Cairo, chanting against the Egyptian military and holding signs in remembrance of Rabaa Al-Adawiya, the site last summer of a deadly crackdown on Morsi supporters. Local residents fired weapons at marchers to disperse the marchers, the news website Ahram Online reported.
After demonstrators set several houses on fire with thrown incendiary weapons, the locals attacked the marchers.
There were no reports of casualties or arrests.
Saturday, on the third anniversary of the 2011 revolution, 26 people were shot in the Matariya section of Cairo when police fired on demonstrators. A total of 64 people were killed that day in Cairo and Giza, Ahram Online said.
