11-car pileup in China kills at least 3 people

SHANGHAI, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- At least three people died and 15 were injured Thursday in an 11-vehicle pileup in Shanghai, police said.

The accident took place about 7:30 a.m., local time, near the Fengjing Toll Station on the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

All the injured were transported to a hospital.

An investigation was under way. Much of the city was experiencing heavy fog at the time of the accident, Xinhua said.
